After a couple of blanks, probably due tot he hot weather, I decided to go for a last minute over night fishing session and my paid off.

I got to the lake about 4pm and after having a good look around I picked a swim with lots of weed, which I could see the fish swimming in and out of. I only fished 2 rods which I put out in front of the weed and put 100 baits out over each rod. It didn’t take long for the action to start, as after 30 minutes I had a 28lb Mirror. I got the rod straight back out and by 8pm, I had another Mirror weighing 27lb. After that it went quiet so I re-baited both rods and got my head down for the night.

At 5 am I had a mental take, and after a good battle I landed a good looking fish. On the scales it weighed 40lb 10oz. This particular fish is a new 40 so I got the privilege of naming it and decided to name it Ruby after my great niece.

The bait I used was Mad Baits wicked whites, with 2, 15mil bottom baits and 100 baits over each rod.
